Trenton Cats Rescue takes in many shy, nervous, fearful, or under-socialized cats. These cats are often overlooked by adopters because they tend to hide in the back of their cages and can be a little skittish when picked up and held. We call them Shadow Cats because they tend to hide in the “shadows”.
These cats are not aggressive, just very timid around people and need time to settle in. The length of time can vary and will definitely take a while. A shadow cat may never be a lap cat, but you never know how far they can progress.
Shadow cats can make wonderful companions, but need a special home that is willing to give them patience, time, space, socialization and extra love. We currently have about a dozen Shadow Cats in need of placement, including Blueberry, Pomegranate, Grape, Crystal, and Mary Jane & Angelo.
If you know someone who might be interested in giving one (or two) of these cats a chance, please have them complete our online questionnaire and one of our volunteers will be in touch ASAP!
